Surroundings

  1. 1 Minute walk: About 80 m down the Krummebergstraße you will find the St. Nikolaus cathedral, which was built between 1350 und 1576. It is open for visitors everyday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. outside the service times. Sometimes it is even possible to climb the tower and enjoy a great view all over Überlingen and the lake constance.
  2. 2 Minutes walk: On the opposite site of the St. Nikolaus-cathedral you will find the historic city hall and a large assembly place, the so-called “Hofstatt”. Every Wednesday and Saturday there is a nice local market. On Saturdays this is accompanied by a smaller farmer’s market next to the cathedral.
  3. 5 Minutes walk: After crossing the Harbourstreet (Hafenstrasse) you will find yourself already standing in front of the lake constance on the landing site (Landungsplatz). Here you can take one of the frequent shuttle-boats across the lake to Wallhausen or one of the several roundtrips, which you can choose at the tourist information there. Besides, there is one of the two bus stations which is a good start for any daytrip.
  4. Close by there is the “Greth”, which is a multi-functional building with an everyday-market and cantine on the ground floor as well as a nice italian restaurant. And below its roof there are three very small but cosy cinemas.
  5. The “Münsterstraße” wich runs below the St. Nikolaus-cathedral and above the “Hofstatt” is the main shopping street with many small fashion boutiques, barbers and grocery shops.
  6. At its right-side end you can find a very close by supermarket for everydays needs. More shopping opportunities you can find with a 10 Minute northbound walk, but that’s already outside the card.
  7. When having a nice walk along the promenade towards the left side, at some point you will find yourself standing in the “Badgarten”, which is a nice resting and relaxing zone. It belongs to the “Kursaal”, which resembles a town hall. Here many cultural events like concerts, discussions, theaters and more take place.
  8. This is the restaurant and wine house “Renker”. It is so close to our appartements, that you can even see it from there.
  9. This is the museum of Überlingen. Besides its historical exhibitions a huge garden with a great view belongs to this museum, where also some cultural events take place.
  10. 5 Minutes by feet from our appartements is the main train station of Überlingen. The eastbound trains are heading over Friedrichshafen towards Ulm and the westbound trains are heading towards Basel with good switching options in Radolfzell and Singen. In addition, the city’s second and also larger bus station is located directly adjacent.
  11. Outside this card, if you are just walking further along the promenade there is a pretty park with shore access and a playground (there are many more playgrounds all over Überlingen, which might be interesting, if you bring your kids along). On the northern end of this park on the opposite site of the street you can find the entrance to the rose garden that leads into the town moat, where you can enjoy large garden facilities and sometimes observing rare birds as well as amazing views into the moan and the rocks that Überlingen is built on.
  12. Another one or two minutes along the promenade and you will reach two of the swimming facilities in Überlingen. One is the beach bath at the lake constance, called “Strandbad West” which is only open in the summertimes and the other one is a thermal bath, “Therme”, with many water attractions, swimming sports area, saunas and a nice spa area.

All of this is just a brief and of course incomplete overview of things you can do or see in Überlingen. But there is a lot more to explore, so come around and enjoy the beautiful old-town of Überlingen and catch your own impression!
